I’ll never be done with Damen and Lauren. The Summer Palace was fabulous!
And working in black and white is so tricky.
I wanted to imagine The Summer Palace cover. Just the kings of Vere and Akielos reunited.
What I love the most about Prince’s Gambit is how Damen and Laurent go from enemies to allies. Two princes, two men trying to prevent war between their two nations.
I hesitated for so long to post this drawing here…
The pain, humiliation and the perpetual fight for freedom were part of Damen’s journey back home and it shouldn’t be forgotten (exactly like Damen refused to hide what he went though to his people). It was so painful to draw his beautiful back to finally destroy it with this wounds. I probably apologized 10 times to him though my screen.
