the man has made history yet again by winning the thousandth winter olympic gold medal – it’s the first time a skater has won the gold consecutively (2014, 2018) in 66 years, following dick button in 1948 and 1952.
this is also yuzuru’s first competition in 4 months following an injury that left him unable to skate until only a month ago.
yuzuru has also confirmed at the press conference that he is still recovering from his injury, yet he still went out and did what he did.
yuzuru hanyu has just, without a doubt, solidified his status as the greatest figure skater of all-time.
I think the most extraordinary thing with Yuzuru’s Hanyu skating is that, like, I’ve watched him skate a dozen times before. I watched him skate this program before. But each time it strikes me as unique and heart-stopping??? I hope that maybe, one day, I’ll get to see him skate irl, that would be SO AWESOME!!!
